Collaboration sees creation of new PADI GoPro Specialty

GoPro and the PADI have just unveiled the brand new ‘GoPro PADI Distinctive Specialty Course’, a groundbreaking certification program tailored for specifically scuba divers with a GoPro camera.

The PADI GoPro Specialty course equips divers with the skills to utilize their GoPro cameras effectively underwater. The course also plans to include relevant accessories and usage of the GoPro ‘Quik’ video editing app.

Capture and share your PADI adventures

Lisa Nicklin, Vice President of Growth and Marketing for PADI Worldwide, expressed the significance of this collaboration in a recent press release.

“We created this course with GoPro to give scuba divers a new superpower that enables them to capture and share meaningful underwater adventures.”

“Learning to dive will change your life forever. Learning to capture and share content with your GoPro will inspire others to do the same while also raising awareness and action to help heal our shared blue planet.”

The GoPro PADI Specialty Course offers divers comprehensive training in:

  • Responsible utilization of GoPro cameras, accessories, and mounts for capturing stunning visual content both above and below the water’s surface.
  • Refinement of storytelling techniques to convey engaging narratives.
  • Proficiency in editing and sharing content through the GoPro Quik video editing app.
  • Advocacy for ocean conservation and environmental stewardship, igniting a ripple effect of positive change.

GoPro acknowledge importance of scuba divers

Rick Loughery, GoPro’s Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications, emphasizes the significance of extending the partnership with PADI:

“Expanding our partnership with PADI will not only introduce GoPro to even more scuba divers, providing them with exciting new learning and adventure opportunities, it will also further GoPro’s mission to work with organizations that have a passion for ocean conservation.”

“Divers have been a big part of the GoPro community, using their GoPros to capture some of the most beautiful and inspiring images we’ve ever seen.”

Rick Loughery – GoPro Vice President of Global Marketing & Communications

Recently, PADI’s community of scuba divers converged with GoPro, Catalina Divers Supply, and the Avalon Rotary Club. The event was the 42nd Annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup on Catalina Island, situated off the coast of Los Angeles, California.

At this event, over 600 volunteers and participants were educated on the importance of ocean conservation, PADI AWARE’s Dive Against Debris™ initiative, and the role of diving in supporting local, national, and international conservation efforts.
